So, you've come to a house concert or 2 and thought, "I'd like to do this myself!"

Well, I did, and you can too. Honest.

Here's a few things that I think helps:

• A love of music
• Ability to communicate why you think folks should come out to see someone they've never heard of.
• A laid-back attitude. Nothing kills the fun like getting all wound up.
• A pleasant space for performances.
• Some spare time.
• Central location with good parking
• A good mailing list
• Dessert (honest, it brings people together)

You see, come August, I'm moving out to Newport RI to begin shipwright training. I love doing this, and people love coming, so I have a real investment in people keeping house concerts alive in Madison.
